Roadside Fire Breaks Out in Cornville

Another roadside fire broke out in Yavapai County, this one in Cornville. Units with the Verde Valley Fire District were dispatched to Beaverhead Flat Road Thursday. The fire did not spread far and was quickly extinguished.

Fire officials want to remind drivers to take precautions before hitting the road. Make sure all chains on your vehicle are properly secured. Dragging chains can throw out sparks and start wildfires along the side of the road. You should also check your tire pressure as driving on rims can also create sparks. Another piece of advice is never drive your vehicle onto grass. Hot exhaust pipes and mufflers can ignite the vegetation.

As it stands now, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is high, and Yavapai County is under Stage One fire restrictions.
