Tri-City Sports Roundup Top 10 Local Games of the Year 2023-24

#1 – CVHS Boys Soccer vs. Madison Highland, Final Four of State (Game tied on Chino own goal w/7 seconds left in regulation. In OT, Peyton Carey scores from 60 yards out, Chino wins 2-1)

#2 – ERAU Men’s Soccer vs. Simpson, Cal Pac Tournament (Riddle trailed 2-0 w/ 15 min left in regulation. Riddle ties the score. 2nd OT, Alex Frances scores game-tying and game-winning goals, final score ERAU 4, Simpson 3)

#3 – NAZ Wranglers vs. Bay Area Panthers (Days after D-Line Coach David Moran passed away, NAZ was down 40-15 in the 3rd QTR. Wranglers fought back, got within one with 4 seconds left in regulation. Axel Perez kicked a deuce, NAZ wins 47-46)

#4 – ERAU Women’s Basketball vs. Westcliff, Cal Pac Tournament (Riddle tied score with 20 seconds left in regulation and Westcliff missed a three-pointer at the buzzer. Westcliff led early in OT, but Riddle came back to win 69-61)

#5 – YC Men’s Basketball vs. Mesa (Yavapai trailed by 23 points in the first half, then got within ten of Mesa before halftime. Yavapai then took the lead in the second half, went back-and-forth with Mesa, and won 92-89)

#6 – PHS Baseball vs. Mingus (Prescott trailed 7-1 in the bottom of the 7th, but chipped away at the lead. Cooper Magnett hit a bases-clearing double to give Prescott the 8-7 walk-off win)

#7 – PHS vs. BMHS, football (Prescott led 10-0 at halftime. Bradshaw Mt. roared back in the second half to take the lead. In the final minute of regulation, Prescott made three throws toward the end zone. All missed, and Bradshaw won 21-13)

#8 – PHS vs. BMHS, volleyball (Prescott won the first set, then Bradshaw won two very close sets. Prescott dominated the fourth set and were three points away from winning the fifth set. Hannah Platt notched several kills to give Bradshaw the 15-12 set win and the 3-2 match victory)

#9 YC Baseball vs. Gateway (Yavapai trailed 7-1 in the 4th inning, then trailed 11-6 in the bottom of the 9th. Riley Nelson hit a grand slam to make it a one run game. Luke Moeller tied it with an RBI double and Vinny Nielson had a walk-off single, final score YC 12, Gateway 11)

#10 – YC Women’s Soccer vs. Pima (#5 ranked Pima was up 1-0 in the second half when Ciarra Webbe’s goal tied it. In the 73rd minute, Julie Reyes scored the go-ahead goal. Yavapai’s defense held on to get the 2-1 upset win)
