Eight Year Old Prevents Major Fire in Prescott Valley

On July 3, eight-year-old Brogan Mcfadden smelled smoke while playing outside her grandmother’s house in Prescott Valley and immediately shouted for someone to call 9-1-1. Her quick actions led to the discovery of a fire close to a neighboring home. Responding without delay, firefighters from the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) managed to control the fire promptly.

Their efficient response prevented extensive damage and protected a resident who was asleep and unaware of the imminent danger. For her alertness, Brogan, the daughter of CAFMA firefighter, Matt Mcfadden and niece of CAFMA Captain Mike Mcfadden, was honored with a certificate of appreciation.

Her father, Matt, expressed great pride in her actions: “her calm thinking made a big difference. She’s truly our little hero.” This event highlights the critical importance of teaching fire safety to children from an early age.
