The City of Cottonwood’s water well serving the Verde Santa Fe and Amante subdivisions failed this morning, prompting immediate water conservation measures. Effective immediately, Cottonwood Mayor Tim Elinki has elevated the water reduction demand strategy to Level 4, for Verde Santa Fe, per the Director of Utilities’ recommendation. This move aims to reduce water usage to ensure safe production levels exceed demand, triggering mandatory conservation measures under Resource Status Level IV.
Restrictions include no potable water used for outdoor purposes. Secondly, with proper notice, restaurants will only serve water to customers upon request and with proper notice to customers, hotels will only wash a customer’s linens for a stay in excess of one night upon request only.
