August 10th will be a big day for the local sports scene. That’s the day three of our collegiate teams will hit the field and the court for pre-season scrimmages.
The Embry-Riddle volleyball team will be in Surprise for a day-long scrimmage at Ottawa University. The Lady Eagles are coming off a 21-10 season and have five new players on their roster for the 2024 season.
Both Riddle soccer teams will also be in action on August 10th. The women travel to Flagstaff for a friendly with NAU. The Lady Eagles face a Lady Jack team that went 11-6-3 and lost in the Big Sky Championship game last season. Embry-Riddle, meanwhile, went 13-3-3 last season and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament.
Finally, the Embry-Riddle men’s soccer team gets to host a scrimmage. They face Pima College at 6 p.m. The Eagles went 12-6-1 last season, while the Aztecs went 13-3-1 and qualified for the JUCO Division Two National Tournament.
