Success in the classroom earned the Embry-Riddle women’s basketball team a big award. The Lady Eagles made the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s Top 25 Team Honor Roll for the NAIA.
To qualify, teams must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Riddle’s team GPA was 3.496, which put them at number 19 on the list. Taking the top spot was Sterling College in Kansas with a team GPA of 3.831.
This is not the first academic honor for the 2023-2024 Embry-Riddle squad. Earlier this year, seven players made the All-Cal Pac Academic Team; Susie Reynoso, Mehgan Strickler, Hannah Urbano, Micaela Hidalgo, Liz Behan, and Kate McBride. Reynoso, Strickler, and Behan were also named to the College Sports Communicators All-District Academic Team.
Other teams making the WBCA Top 25 Honor Roll are Embry-Riddle-Daytona Beach, number 20 in NCAA II, and Pima College, number seven among junior colleges.
