The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a juvenile on negligent homicide charges in connection with the death of an infant in Cordes Lakes. YCSO officials say the baby was found dead in a car Tuesday. The child’s mother had asked the neighbor for a ride to her workplace in Prescott Valley and took her six-month-old infant with her.
Sheriff’s Office investigators say the neighbor drove back to Cordes Lakes and was supposed to drop off the infant with its father, but instead the neighbor went inside their home, leaving the baby in the back seat. The infant was left in the hot car for seven hours before being discovered. The neighbor claimed they had forgotten about the baby when they arrived home.
