Former YC Baseball & Softball Players Find New Homes

A former Yavapai College baseball player has found a new home. Mitch Wood has joined the University of Iowa. This past season, Wood played for Northern Kentucky University. He hit .260 with four home runs, 15 RBIs, eight doubles, 18 runs scored, and a .384 on-base percentage. That got him a spot on the All-Horizon League Second Team.

While at Yavapai in 2023, Wood batted .323 with five home runs, 35 RBIs, 14 doubles, three triples, and 33 runs scored. Wood returns to his home state to play baseball as he is a native of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Meanwhile, a Yavapai College softball player has committed to a four-year school. Darby Kramp is going to Davenport University, an NCAA Division II school in Michigan. Kramp only played in five games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending injury. In 2023, she hit .394 with 13 home runs, 42 RBIs, 17 doubles, one triple, and 45 runs scored.
