Fire Danger Rises in Prescott National Forest

With not much rain falling on the Tri-City area over the past month, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is back up to high. It had been moderate for the past month. While no fire restrictions are in place in the forest, everyone is urged to take precautions when out camping or hiking.

Make sure your campfire is completely out and ashes are cool to the touch before you leave. If you smoke, make sure to properly discard your cigarettes. Do not throw them into grass or brush. When driving, make sure no chains are dragging from your vehicle as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park on grass, as the heat from under your vehicle can ignite the vegetation.
