Cellar Creek Fire Burning in Prescott National Forest

Firefighters are tackling a wildfire burning in the Prescott National Forest. The Cellar Creek Fire began on August 30th due to a lightning strike. Since that time, it has burned 175 acres. Fire crews spent the past couple of days preparing roads around the fire in order to conduct burnout operations. The fire is currently burning through grass and brush, and no structures are threatened.

Smoke from the fire is visible in Skull Valley, Kirkland, and Wilhoit. The public is asked to stay away from the area of the Cellar Creek Fire so fire personnel can effectively do their jobs.
