Units from the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority put out a small brush fire on Highway 89-A Monday morning. Firefighters arrived at the scene just after 11 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire. The blaze was reported by a motorist who had a melted piece of plastic fall from their vehicle and ignite the grass along the highway.
CAFMA officials say despite the recent monsoon rains, vegetation is still dry around the Tri-City area. They urge the public to maintain their vehicles and regularly check for any loose items, particularly on trailers, that could drag and cause sparks on the roadway.
