Defense ruled the night in the first half of Friday’s match-up between the Bradshaw Mountain and St. Mary’s football teams. Neither side scored in the first quarter. The Bears finally got on the board in the second stanza and went into halftime up 7-0. They increased their lead to 14-0 in the third quarter, but by the fourth quarter, it was all tied up at 14-14. Bradshaw then took a 21-14 lead before St. Mary’s scored with under 30 seconds left in regulation. However, the Knights missed their point after attempt, and the Bears came away as 21-20 winners.
Kylin Jackson had two rushing touchdowns for the Bears. Dreyven Gilbert recovered a fumble and ran it 60 yards into the end zone. Bradshaw Mountain is now 2-2 on the season.
Also on the gridiron Friday, Mayer lost to Mohave Accelerated 61-8. Chino Valley had the bye week.
