New resources and enhanced partnerships among law enforcement agencies in Yavapai County are the result of the county being designated as a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area.
The High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program designation will allow the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies to share information more easily. Additional resources will be available to fight the trafficking of deadly fentanyl and other drugs in the state, which has been exacerbated by the breakdown of immigration enforcement at the border.
The Federal Office of National Drug Control Policy reports that $325 million worth of illegal drugs were removed from the market by the Arizona High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas program in 2023, including the seizure of 36 million fentanyl pills and millions of dollars in cash.
