Part one of the rivalry on the pitch took place last night as the Chino Valley girls soccer team took a short trip to the Verde Valley to face Camp Verde. It turned out not to be a tightly contested game as the Lady Cougars controlled the play for most of the night, coming away with a 4-0 shutout victory.
Another big game for Livia McMains as she had a hat trick. Sage Rhys-Evans also scored for Chino. The win puts Chino’s overall record at 6-7 for the season. They are also number seven in the state Power Point rankings, with the top six teams qualifying for the postseason.
The Lady Cougars and Lady Cowboys meet again tomorrow at 6 p.m., this time in Chino Valley. After that, Chino is off until October 21 when they go to Payson.
