Traffic Stop Leads to Foot Pursuit and Large Fentanyl Bust

A traffic stop by a Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit on Highway 69 just north of Poland Junction Road led to deputies confiscating approximately 20,000 fentanyl pills.

Just after noon on Wednesday, while the deputies were speaking to the driver, the passenger began to run. The fleeing suspect didn’t get too far and was quickly apprehended. He was also found to be carrying a gun.

After both suspects were taken into custody, K9 Skye located approximately 20,000 fentanyl pills in the vehicle. No deputies were injured, and the suspect who attempted to run refused medical attention.
