APS Gets $70 Million in Federal Grants

APS customers in Yavapai County and the rest of the state could benefit from a large federal grant the utility recently received. The U.S. Department of Energy awarded Arizona Public Service 70 million dollars to fund various projects. These include strengthening smart grid resilience, expanding wildfire prevention and mitigation measures, and helping to meet customers’ growing energy needs.

The funds are part of the department’s Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships Program, which focuses on enhancing and improving electric systems in rural, tribal, and disadvantaged communities across the country. The money dedicated to wildfire mitigation efforts alone amounts to 50 million dollars.
