All the rain Yavapai County received last weekend did not put a dent in the drought. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, just like last week, the southern part of the county is in severe drought, while the central part of the county is in moderate drought. The northeastern part of Yavapai is abnormally dry.
As for the rest of Arizona, much of northern Arizona is abnormally dry or in moderate drought. The western and central areas of the state are in either severe drought or moderate drought.
Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is high. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
