The road that was relied upon to bring supplies to Fort Whipple and gold miners in Prescott, named capital of the new territory of Arizona in 1864, will be honored next week.
Built in 1865, Ehrenberg Road connected Prescott and Fort Whipple to the Colorado River, where supplies and travelers waited to endure the rough trek through unsettled Indian country to reach their destination.
Yavapai County Spokesman David McAtee tells The News a dedication ceremony will be held next Thursday:
To attend the ceremony, RSVP by calling 928-771-3207.
