The drought is getting worse in Yavapai County. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the southwest corner of the county near Congress is in extreme drought. The extreme drought also encompasses all of La Paz County and parts of Mohave and Yuma counties. As for the rest of Yavapai County, the southern part of the county is in severe drought, while the central part of the county is in moderate drought. The northeastern part of Yavapai is abnormally dry.
When it comes to the rest of the state, much of northern Arizona is abnormally dry or in moderate drought. The western and central areas of the state are in either severe drought or moderate drought. Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is moderate. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
