Yavapai County search and rescue teams had a busy Friday as they were dispatched to rescue two hikers in two different locations.
The first incident occurred in Black Canyon City when a couple of friends went for a hike on the Black Canyon Trail. One of them got lost seven miles from the trailhead. Sheriff’s deputies and search and rescue personnel were called out and searched through the night. The lost hiker was found just after sunrise in good health and was taken back to Black Canyon City.
Also on Friday, a man hiked up a mountain near Wilhoit and got lost in thick brush. The hiker became exhausted and stayed on the mountain overnight. On Saturday morning, deputies made their way to the hiker’s location and determined he needed assistance. The rescue helicopter that had just completed its mission in Black Canyon City flew to Wilhoit and got the hiker off the mountain.
