The Prescott Police Department is anticipating the addition of sworn officers to its force since Proposition 478 was passed by voters last month.
The city will not begin collecting money from the voter-approved sales tax until April, so the hiring of new officers is still some time away.
Deputy Police Chief Jon Brambila tells The News even if hiring could begin tomorrow, there are a couple of challenges in the process to overcome:
Brambila says there is a lot of interest from officers wanting to move to Prescott and join the department, but they lose candidates due to the lack of affordable housing.
