A public meeting to discuss the Hassayampa River Riparian Corridor Mineral Withdrawal Reinstatement Project will be held by the Bureau of Land Management and Prescott National Forest on Tuesday, December 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Center at 1280 East Rosser St. in Prescott. The public meeting will be a traditional in-person meeting with no online or virtual options for attending.
The project involves a proposal to withdraw 3,739 acres of land in the forest from location and entry under U.S. mining laws and from leasing under the mineral and geothermal leasing laws for a 20-year term, subject to valid existing rights.
At the meeting, BLM and Forest Service staff will provide information and answer questions about the proposal. The Forest Service is the lead agency for the National Environmental Protection Act environmental review process for the requested withdrawal, with BLM participating as a cooperating agency. Under federal law, the BLM processes withdrawals on public lands, including National Forest System lands.
