Coach Travis Stedman said his Prescott boys basketball team would face a challenge at the Damian Classic, with many of California’s top teams participating in the tournament in La Verne. Day one of the Classic yesterday saw the Badgers take on Canyon High School from Anaheim.
The Comanches entered the contest with an 8-2 record and dominated the first quarter, going up 13-4. They extended their lead to 39-21 at halftime. Prescott made a push to get back into the game during the second half, but the deficit was too large to overcome, and they lost 71-56. Individual stats were not available prior to airtime.
The loss puts the Badgers’ overall record at 3-2 for the season. They continue in the Damian Classic today, facing Chatsworth, who is 9-2 on the season after an 88-84 win over Inglewood yesterday.
