CVHS & Mayer Girls Basketball Teams See Lots of Action in Camp Verde

The Chino Valley and Mayer girls basketball teams had a busy weekend to finish up the 2024 side of their schedules. Both squads were in Camp Verde taking part in the Yvonne Johnson Memorial Tournament. Friday did not go the way for either the Lady Cougars or the Lady Cats. Chino dropped its first two games, 29-24 to Scottsdale Prep and 71-25 to Pinon. Bella Roskopf notched seven points versus Scottsdale Prep, and Brooke Baziuk garnered seven points against Pinon. Mayer also suffered two losses Friday, 70-20 to Camp Verde and 52-34 to Red Mesa. Aspyn Colquitt tallied nine points in the first game, and Taylor McCann posted 15 points in the second game.

Saturday proved a better day, with Chino Valley routing Seligman 47-18 and Mayer slamming Rough Rock 45-16. Roskopf netted 15 points for the Lady Cougars, while Isabella Morales put up nine points for the Lady Cats. The two squads ended their time in the tournament taking on each other, with Chino getting the deke 52-30. Roskopf notched 16 points for the Lady Cougars, and Fatima Morales garnered 11 points for the Lady Cats.
