On one side, you had Alijah Arenas, a five-star shooting guard from Chatsworth High School who’s the number four overall recruit in the nation and the son of ex-NBA star Gilbert Arenas. On the other side, you had Prescott’s Uriah Tenette, the two-time region player of the year and last season’s co-conference player of the year.
The two put on one heck of a show Friday at the Damien Classic in California. Arenas tallied 56 points, and Tenette posted 54 points. “Tenacious T’s” team, however, came out on top as the Badgers secured a 93-86 overtime win. Zane Gaul notched 20 points in that game.
Saturday was another intense battle for Prescott against Rancho Cucamonga, but the Badgers notched win number two at the tournament with a final score of 83-75. Tenette came back down to earth in this one with 27 points. Gaul added 25 points, and Josiah Peoples lit it up from beyond the arc with six three-pointers for 18 points.
Prescott faces Redwood in the consolation championship game today.
