PHS Basketball’s Tenette Named SI Nat’l High School Player of the Week

He has received all-region, all-conference, and statewide recognition during his career. Now, Uriah Tenette of the Prescott boys basketball team has garnered accolades on a national level.

He was voted the Sports Illustrated National High School Player of the Week for the final week of 2024. Tenette was among 18 candidates vying for the honor and received 55 percent of the vote. The next closest player to him was Jake Karp from Egg Harbor High School in New Jersey, who had 33 percent of the vote. In total, more than 40,000 votes were cast in the National High School Player of the Week poll.

Tenette earned the honor for his play in Prescott’s 93-87 overtime win over Chatsworth during the Damien Classic. He tallied a career-high and school record 54 points in that game.

This season, Tenette is averaging over 28 points per game. He is also ranked number seven in The Arizona Republic’s top 20 players in the state. Tenette has already signed with UC San Diego.
