PHS Girls Soccer Shuts Out Last Season’s State Runners Up

They could not have had a tougher home opener. In their first home game of the season, the Prescott girls soccer team went up against Campo Verde, last season’s state runners-up in the 5A conference.

It was a night the Lady Badgers needed their defense to really step up, and that’s exactly what they did. Zoe Allen, Riley Schoeder, Claire Long, and Lexi Dugan formed a wall in the backfield that stymied the Lady Coyotes all night long. When Campo Verde did get shots on goal, keeper Mallory Walsh was there to stop them, making four saves on the night.

Offensively, Kenzie Blanchard launched a free kick 20 yards into the net in the first half. It turned out to be all the offense Prescott needed as they shut out the Lady Coyotes 1-0 on Tuesday.

The Lady Badgers are now 3-0 on the season. The game was the first of a five-game homestand.
