Woman in Critical Condition, Child Injured in Car Crash on Williamson Valley Rd

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash near Williamson Valley and Camp Wood roads in Prescott on Tuesday around 5:30 p.m.

Deputies learned that the vehicle left the roadway to the right, rolling several times before hitting a tree and coming to rest on its side. A female driver from California in her late 20s was thrown approximately 50 feet from the car. Her infant, secured in a car seat, was suspended for several minutes until the person who reported the crash was able to unstrap the child.

The mother was flown to a hospital in Flagstaff in critical condition, while the infant was taken to a Prescott hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Officials say the infant being properly secured in a car seat likely saved its life.
