It’s Community Risk Reduction Week

The Prescott Fire Department wants to raise awareness about the importance of safety in our community during Community Risk Reduction Week through January 26. They are focusing on identifying and reducing risks to help keep the city’s neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Slips, trips, and falls are common risks, especially during inclement weather. Here are some tips to stay safe:

Outside: Clear walkways of snow, ice, and wet leaves. Use salt or sand to improve traction. Wear shoes with good grip and tread.

At home: Keep floors dry and free of clutter. Use rugs with non-slip backing. Ensure proper lighting, especially on stairs and entryways.

At work: Promptly clean up spills and mark wet areas. Secure cords and cables to prevent tripping hazards. Wear proper footwear, especially in areas prone to slick surfaces. Use handrails on stairs and check for uneven flooring.
