PFD Urges Everyone to Have Smoke Detectors and CO Alarms

The Prescott Fire Department wants to raise awareness about the importance of safety in our community during Community Risk Reduction Week, now through January 26th.

One of the most important steps you can take to protect your family and home is to install and maintain smoke detectors and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. These devices are your first line of defense in detecting fire or dangerous gas levels, giving you precious time to act.

Place smoke detectors in every bedroom, outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home. Test alarms monthly to ensure they work properly and replace batteries at least once a year or as needed.

Install carbon monoxide alarms near sleeping areas and ensure proper ventilation of fuel-burning appliances.

A working alarm could mean the difference between life and tragedy.
