Drought Gets Worse in Yavapai County

The drought is intensifying its grip on Yavapai County. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the southern part of the county is in extreme drought. The extreme drought also extends to Yuma, La Paz, Mohave, and Maricopa counties. The rest of Yavapai County is in severe drought.

As for the rest of the state, much of northern Arizona is abnormally dry or in moderate drought. The eastern, central, and southern parts of the state are in either severe or moderate drought.

Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest remains high. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.

We will see if the winter storms from earlier in the week have any impact on drought conditions.
