The Town of Prescott Valley is opposed to a proposed state House bill that could cost it millions in sales tax revenue. HCR 2021 would eliminate the sales tax on food for home consumption.
In a letter to State Representative Justin Olson, a co-sponsor of the bill, Mayor Kell Palguta stated if the bill becomes law, it could cost the town in excess of five million dollars and force the Town Council to, “make difficult decisions that would directly affect our ability to deliver essential services.”
