A former deputy sheriff has been found guilty on child sex charges by a Yavapai County jury. Sixty-eight year old Prescott resident Jeffrey Joseph York was found guilty of luring a minor for sexual exploitation and two counts of attempted sexual conduct with a minor.
Back in 2023, local law enforcement investigators, working with the FBI, discovered York trying to arrange sex with a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl online. He continued the conversation via social media, texting and two telephone conversations, describing the explicit acts he planned to engage in with the children. York was, in fact, talking to an undercover officer the whole time. He was arrested after he traveled to the arranged meeting spot.
Sentencing for York is scheduled for February 28th. York served with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department before retiring and moving to Prescott.
