While the boys’ game between Prescott and Mingus Tuesday was a blowout, the same could not be said of the girls’ basketball game.
The Lady Badgers and Lady Marauders duked it out in Cottonwood and were close throughout the first half. In the third quarter, Prescott got on a run to go up by ten. Then in the fourth quarter, Mingus battled back to tie the score with two minutes left in regulation. That’s when the Lady Badgers clamped down defensively and forced three straight turnovers. On-target free throw shooting proved the difference as Prescott came away 53-47 winners. It was win number 20 on the season for the Lady Badgers, the first time in a decade they achieved that amount of victories.
Addie Prisciandaro posted 22 points, including five three-pointers. Bella Abt garnered 20 points and needs 27 more to hit 1,000 for her career.
Prescott hosts Mohave tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
