Prescott area Congressman Eli Crane wants to see more veterans involved in land management agencies. To that end, he has reintroduced the Hire Veterans Bill. This is aimed at staffing the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and the Bureau of Land Management with former military members.
The bill would establish a five-year pilot program to direct federal land management agencies to conditionally appoint a veteran who has demonstrated the necessary skills and abilities for specific vacant positions at federal land management agencies.
