Update on Contamination Testing at Chino Valley Circle K

Just over a year ago, an accidental underground fuel release at the Circle K in Chino Valley put into motion aggressive testing and contamination mitigation efforts by Circle K.

A revised testing schedule has been released by Circle K, who state: “After careful consideration and consultation with our environmental advisors, we remain confident that our team will be able to effectively detect and take appropriate steps to mitigate any contamination to ensure the continued safety of our Chino Valley neighbors and their drinking water.”

The convenience store operator and its environmental contractors have been testing water samples taken from nearby private wells every week since late February 2024. In May of 2024, Circle K and its contractors began supplementing this with bi-weekly testing of four monitoring wells drilled closer to the store. This month, the company will change the frequency of all sampling and testing to once per month while continuing daily remediation using a soil vapor extraction system on site.
