Chino Valley Acquires Fred Harvey Farm Property

The Town of Chino Valley, in partnership with the Trust for Public Land, has acquired the Fred Harvey Farm at the headwaters of the Verde River. The land is 23 acres in size and is within the boundaries of a future state park. Town officials plan to build a new trail on the land and preserve the historical buildings on the site.

In a release from the Town of Chino Valley, Town Manager Terri Denemy said, “We are told that this is the last remaining Fred Harvey farm in the country. Had our town leaders not stepped in to acquire this important part, not just of Chino Valley’s history, but also of our nation’s history, it all could have been lost. Because of their action, generations to come can see and learn from these historic buildings and the history they represent.”
