It’s off to the Final Four time for one former local athlete. Bradshaw Mountain grad Mason Hunt and the Pima College men’s basketball team were in action last night versus Davidson-Davie College in the NJCAA Division Two National Tournament. The Aztecs got up on the Storm early. Double-D nipped at Pima’s heels all night long, but the Aztecs did not relinquish their lead and got the win, final score 86-82.
Hunt played a big role in the victory, posting 17 points. Pima takes on Parkland College in their first Final Four appearance since 2018 tonight.
Also last night, former Yavapai College women’s basketball player Chelsea Dermyer – now Banbury – led her High Point squad in First Four action in the NCAA Women’s National Tournament. The Lady Panthers put up a heck of a fight against William and Mary, but came up short 68-63.
Banbury’s High Point team ends the season with a 21-12 record.
