City of Prescott to Pay for Turf Removal

The city of Prescott is offering its residents $1 per square foot in rebates for the removal of turf. It is encouraged to install permeable alternatives to save water and money on your monthly water bill.

Drought-tolerant, low water-use plants can reduce outdoor water use from 60-85% while providing cooling effects and helping reduce stormwater issues. There are plenty of drought-tolerant plants available to choose from. Arizona cypress, deodar cedar, Hillspire juniper, and desert willow are smart choices if you are adding trees to your property. A few low water-use perennials include Texas hummingbird mint, buckwheat, Russian sage, and desert marigold.

Groundcover plants that are drought-tolerant include blue chip juniper, Boston ivy, creeping thyme, winter jasmine, and more.
