The first few weeks of the season have been a struggle for the Prescott softball team, with few wins and few runs to show for it. Friday, the Lady Badgers flipped the script, and flipped it in a big way. They hosted ALA Gilbert North and dominated the game from the onset. Prescott put up five runs in the first inning and racked up more and more as the day wore on. The Lady Badgers ultimately run-ruled the Lady Eagles 13-1.
Gracie Pereira was the winning pitcher. She allowed a run on four hits and struck out eight. Pereira also drove in a run. Mariah Smolnikar doubled, tripled, and drove in three runs. Belle Mazon went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Haley James scored two runs.
Prescott is now 3-5 overall on the season. They have a home-and-home with Bradshaw Mountain today at Prescott High School and Wednesday in Prescott Valley.
