Prescott National Forest crews will start a thinning project on Doce Mountain Monday. Excess vegetation will be cleared from more than 1,900 acres of land through mechanical means and by hand. This is part of the Hassayampa Landscape Restoration Project, and is meant to remove hazardous fuels to reduce the risk of a catastrophic wildfire.
The work should be completed before the end of the month.
