The Chino Valley softball team got off to a shaky start on Monday’s match-up with Kingman. The Lady Bulldogs got on the board in the first inning to go up 1-0, then had a 2-1 lead after three innings. Freshman Kinsey Murphy held down the Kingman offense in the top of the fourth to keep the Lady Cougars in it, and they took advantage of that in the bottom of the frame by putting up four runs. The Lady Bulldogs scored again in the fifth inning, but that would be that as Chino notched a 5-3 win.
Murphy had another huge game with 18 strikeouts. At the plate, she went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Murphy now has 134 strikeouts on the season. Aden Hubble went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Jamie Felton drove in a run.
Chino Valley is now 10-8 overall on the season and 5-2 in 3A West Region play. They have also won five of their last six games.
