MatForce, Yavapai County’s anti-drug coalition, has announced the winners for its Stay Healthy essay contest. Taking first place is Zahory Garcia Sanchez of Camp Verde High School. Another Camp Verde student, Ellie Andre, took second place. Third place went to Sienna Amodeo from Mingus High School. Those three received cash prizes between $100 and $500. The eleven honorable mentions got $50 cash prizes.
MatForce began the essay contest in 2019 as a way to get young people thinking about the harms and consequences of substance use and to share their thoughts with their peers and the community.
