As the year progresses, the Prescott Fire Department continues its wildfire mitigation projects. Crews have paused work on the Willow Lake project until November and have shifted their focus to the Constellation Trail project. The fire department’s goal is to remove debris in the area surrounding the Constellation Trail.
Prescott Fire Department Wildfire Risk Manager, Conrad Jackson, tells The News:
Jackson says the project is expected to cost three hundred thousand dollars but is being mostly paid for using state grants. Work surrounding the trail should be complete in November and will primarily take place surrounding the Constellation Trailhead and the Gateway Trailhead.
Jackson reports that while the project will not have a significant short-term impact, officials aim to make the area easier to maintain for long-term fire protection.
