Yavapai County is in the middle of its free slash drop-off program. Now through June 15th, you can dispose of your yard debris at any county transfer station free of charge. These transfer stations are located in Mayer, Paulden, Skull Valley, Congress, Camp Verde, Black Canyon City, and Seligman.
Items that are accepted include brush, branches, grass, leaves, and yard trimmings. Items that will not be accepted include roots, cacti, lumber, garbage, stumps, and metal. The transfer stations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The program is designed to encourage people to create defensible space around their homes to protect them from wildfires.
