The Prescott Police Department had to call out the SWAT team during an incident Monday afternoon. According to police officials, officers responded to a home in the 400 block of South Montezuma Street just after 1 p.m. Prior to that, personnel from the Prescott Fire Department were there dealing with a medical call. While treating the woman on the scene, paramedics believed it could be a domestic violence incident and notified police.
When officers arrived, they encountered 33-year-old Travis James, who threw an aerosol can at one officer, then ran inside his apartment. Officers learned James was armed with several knives and called in the SWAT team. When negotiations with James failed, the SWAT team entered the apartment and determined James had climbed into the attic and accessed another apartment unit.
James was found and arrested without incident. He was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and burglary, as well as an arrest warrant out of Coconino County.
