Baseball & Softball State Play-in Recap

For several local teams on the diamond, their seasons came to an end in the state play-in round yesterday. The Chino Valley softball team had a tight battle with Coolidge in the 3A Conference, but came up short 3-2. Kinsey Murphy fanned nine and did not allow an earned run. She also drove in a run. Jamie Felton collected three hits. The Lady Cougars end the season with an overall record of 14-12. The Chino Valley baseball team, however, got no-hit by Apache Junction and lost 9-0. They conclude the season at 9-13-1 overall.

In the 4A Conference, the Bradshaw Mountain softball team suffered a 13-1 loss to Mohave. They end the season with an overall record of 7-11. One team that is moving on to the state tournament is the Bradshaw Mountain baseball team. They got the 9-5 deke over Eastmark. Round one of state takes place this Saturday.

Also on the local scoreboard from yesterday, in boys volleyball: Prescott knocked off Paradise Honors 3-1. Bradshaw Mountain swept Marcos de Niza 3-0. Isaiah Tapoof notched 15 kills and Antonio Beltran recorded 26 assists.
