The Bradshaw Mountain baseball team began the week with a bus trip to Tucson to face number one seed Salpointe Catholic in the second round of the state tournament. The game was close for the first three innings with the Bears trailing the Lancers 2-0. Then came the fourth inning, when Salpointe went on a rampage and scored eight runs. That resulted in a 10-0 run-rule win for the Lancers.
Bradshaw recorded just three hits, two of them by Caden Randall. Despite the loss, the number nine-seeded Bears are not done in the tournament. They are back in the Tucson area tomorrow to take on number five Ironwood Ridge, who lost to number 12 Yuma 3-2 yesterday. First pitch is 4 p.m. Salpointe Catholic, meanwhile, takes on number 13 Mesquite tomorrow.
