Last week’s rain had some impact on Yavapai County’s drought conditions. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, the northern half of the county is in severe drought, while the southern half is in extreme drought. Prior to last week, three-quarters of Yavapai County was in extreme drought.
As for the rest of the state, nearly three-quarters of Arizona is in extreme drought. The southeastern part of Arizona is in exceptional drought.
Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is high. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
