Prescott Area Congressman Crane Seeks to Enhance Capitol Police’s Anti-Drone Measures

Prescott-area Congressman Eli Crane is marking National Police Week by introducing the U.S. Capitol Police Empowerment Act. The bill would authorize Capitol Police to intercept drones that pose a security risk to the Capitol complex.

Drone flights are currently banned over D.C., but officials say intrusions near the Capitol have been reported in recent years. Right now, U.S. Capitol Police do not have clear authority to neutralize those threats.

Crane says, “With drone technology advancing at a rapid rate, we must strengthen our response to aerial threats against the U.S. Capitol. I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance this proactive approach, ensuring U.S. Capitol Police can prevent devastating attacks without delay.”
